It was the day I could no longer deny that something was deeply wrong with me… "

...And now, let's all raise our glasses to my best friend Cindy and her wonderful husband Zane!" I shouted out, all proud and smiling. Everyone went quiet. I didn’t get what was wrong… a voice from the crowd said, “It’s Andrew.”

“Huh..?” I mumbled, as if I were a thousand miles away. My heart sank... and my cheeks flamed with embarrassment. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Andrew, not Zane—how could I have gotten that wrong? Zane was Cindy’s ex. Her big ex.

The one she dated before and… well… sometimes when she was already with Andrew… Their relationship was so toxic, but Cindy was crazy about him.

Andrew was different; he was kind, loving, and dependable. So how the hell could I mix him up with Zane??! The room suddenly felt awkward as whispers filled the air. “To Cindy and Andrew” I tried again, but my voice just faded out.

I couldn't take it anymore, so I rushed to the bathroom. I slammed the door shut, locked it, and leaned against it, trying to catch my breath feeling tears welling up in my eyes.

"This wasn’t just about getting a name wrong during my speech... It was about all those times I missed coffee dates with friends, the stack of overdue bill notices piling up unopened, and the deadlines at work I just kept missing.

It was the brain fog, the endless overthinking, and the relentless fatigue that wouldn’t go away, no matter how much I slept. When I stood up to give that speech, I could see the look in everyone’s eyes—it was an ‘oh boy, here we go again’ look. It felt like I couldn’t be trusted with anything important."

And the worst part was that they were right—I could barely keep it together. Take my place, for example—it was a total disaster.

The kind of mess that would send my heart racing if anyone thought to drop by unannounced. Dishes piled up in the sink like they might topple over any second. Laundry was everywhere—clean, dirty, you name it.

My bed was covered with unfolded clothes, my computer was buried under stacks of papers… Some days, it looked like a bomb had gone off in my apartment.

I felt like a burden to everyone around me, always leaning on others to pick up the slack. I felt pretty useless, like I just wanted to curl up and disappear.

“I had tried every solution there was…”

I tried to get better. I really did. I read self-help books, listened to motivating podcasts, and attended online workshops on getting organized and managing time.

I tried yoga, meditation, and therapy and sometimes things seemed to get better. So when I got a burst of energy, I went after the mess in my house, one thing at a time.

One weekend, I'd clean up the closet. Next, I'd sort through piles of paperwork.

Sometimes, when I saw a clean countertop or a tidy desk, I felt a brief sense of relief. It was like winning a small battle.

But every time I thought I had it all figured out, there I was again, sitting on a couch covered in dirty laundry scrolling on my phone for hours on end…

“This is when I knew I had a dopamine addiction…”

So the next Monday after my best friend’s wedding, my coworker Carla asked eagerly, “So how was it, girl!? Tell me everything!” She was so excited. “It was great, a real fairytale wedding,” I began. “ Truly… a once-in-a-lifetime…” I couldn’t hold back the tears.

She looked at me concerned, “Are you ok, Patricia?” I didn’t mean to unload, but I just couldn’t help it. “It’s like everything I touch turns into hot garbage!” The words spilled out, and before I knew it, tears were streaming down my cheeks. She reached out from across the table and gently patted my hand, “It’s not your fault you’re going through a rough patch…”

We chatted for a little bit and I told her about all the hours I spent scrolling on my phone, how I kept interrupting people when they were talking, the forgetfulness, the little things slipping through.

She was really understanding, and then she said, "Have you ever thought you might have a dopamine addiction?” “What??” It caught me off guard. When she said “dopamine addiction”

I swear I thought she was accusing me of being addicted to hard drugs or something, but then she went on to explain what it was.

“It’s basically your brain getting too hooked on the quick hits of pleasure from things like checking your phone, eating sweets, or even starting new tasks. It’s not really your fault—it’s just how these modern distractions train our brains to behave.”

It was like she was describing me. “But isn’t this everybody these days?”

“I guess it’s pretty common,” she replied, “but that doesn’t mean we can’t do anything about it.”

That's when she told me about MellowFlow. "It's this new app, backed by the latest productivity science, made to help people who have developed Dopamine Addiction like you. It's personalized for each person—it's pretty darn neat! You should give it a shot."

It kinda sounded like just another one of those mental health fads at first. Just like a couple of years ago it was all about mindfulness meditation, before that, yoga was supposed to change your life, before that everybody was raving about gratitude journals…

But later that evening as I saw my boyfriend trip over an overflowing laundry basket in our cluttered living room while I was scrolling on my phone, something clicked.

It wasn’t just about me anymore – it was about everyone around me too.

“It was like everything finally made sense to me.”

As I finished the Mellow Flow quiz answering short questions about routine, distractions , and feelings, the results hit me hard. There they were, all my messy habits and struggles spelled out plain as day on the screen.

Dopamine Dependence, 3rd Degree Procrastination, Intrusive Thoughts, Chronic Overthinking, Emotional Dysregulation – I was seeing some of these terms for the first time, but somehow they made perfect sense to me.

As I looked at my mental health report, the app's algorithm was already spitting out step-by-step solutions for each problem, one after the other.

My first week using Mellow Flow was a major turning point in my life. After just a couple of days, I knew this wasn't just another productivity planner or to-do list app.

It had a clever, easy way of helping me build good habits and sharpen my focus, one day at a time.

“MellowFlow was now my very own personal mental health therapist.”

Right from the get-go, the app emphasized that neither Dopamine Addiction nor the chronic procrastination it caused, was laziness but rather an emotional dysregulation response.

Frankly, I didn’t get it at first. I still thought that if only I had more willpower, I wouldn’t be having any of these issues. But when Mellow Flow showed me how Dopamine Addiction feeds the vicious cycle of procrastination, I knew that it was way more than laziness.

I had my first wake-up call with Mellow Flow when it pointed out that Cognitive Understimulation was a major trigger for my Dopamine Addiction and procrastination. It was true.

Every time I got bored, I'd look for ways to get a hit of dopamine and I’d just spend hours scrolling on Instagram, watching TikTox, snacking, or online shopping, which left me totally drained and a little disgusted with myself.

But the app wasn’t just talk. Every day, it welcomed me with a short 5-minute exercise, helping me tackle one piece of my Dopamine Addiction at a time.

One day, I was finding out about different productivity styles (which totally amazed me – I had no idea I was a Structure Seeker!), and the next, I was learning new tips for decluttering based on my procrastination type.

That’s when I learned that I'm a Deadline-Seeking Procrastinator, so setting strict time limits for tasks was actually helpful to keep me moving forward.

It felt like Mellow Flow was right there with me, helping me out day by day, making everything seem easier to handle.

After all these years, it was the first time I finally knew what was wrong with me and, most importantly, how to fix it.

“Dopamine detox brought happiness back into my life.”

Over the weeks, I began to notice small yet significant changes. I was now on time, full of energy, confident, and in control. Starting my days with Mellow Flow, I watched my once-cluttered home transform into a peaceful sanctuary.

But the best part was that I could finally feel like a woman others could come to for support or advice. A couple of weeks later, my best friend Cidny and her husband Andrew(I will never mess up his name again) came over for dinner.

We had a great time, chatting about their future plans. By the end of the evening, we were laughing about the whole mix-up at the wedding.

He kept looking around, noticing how organized everything was, and said, “Wow, you've really turned things around – how did you do it?”

Also, instead of constantly feeling drained and distracted, I could now help my boyfriend out with stuff around the house or just be there for him when he needed me.

It felt like our relationship was better than ever.

I started sleeping better, my anxiety went down, and I got so much more done.

It's crazy to think that just a few months ago, I was always daydreaming, putting off tasks, and procrastinating. Now, with Mellow Flow helping me, I can focus and get things done like never before.

Looking back, it’s crazy to think how much things have changed.

“Resetting my dopamine levels with Mellow Flow was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself and my partner.”

Remember, Dopamine Addiction is very serious.

It’s a new condition that most people who suffer from it haven’t even heard about it.

But it quietly eats away at your time and inner peace... If you’re stuck in that same loop of Dopamine Addiction and procrastination, give Mellow Flow a try.

It's a way to become a better, more focused you.

I sure wish I found this sooner, but like they say, better late than never.
